Key TX Compliance Points

  • Texas has relatively higher ratios (fewer staff per child) compared to many states
  • Directors need Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent
  • All caregivers must complete 24 clock hours of training annually
  • Texas Rising Star is a quality rating system that may have enhanced ratio requirements

Important Note

Texas requires all childcare employees to undergo FBI fingerprint background checks and a check of the Texas Central Registry of child abuse and neglect before having unsupervised access to children.
